The Governing Council operates as a collegial body in administering GLC on a daily basis. All are expected to defend the Constitution and execute what is constitutionally required of them. On issues not expressly regulated by the Constitution, all Governing Councillors should seek consensus for their initiatives as far as possible. Analogous to cabinets in parliamentary systems, incumbent Governing Councillors sit as voting Senators inside Senate.
There is no hierarchy or rigid division of labour between Governing Councillors; all are expected to work together as one team. Directorshhip titles (e.g. Director of Alumni Affairs, Director of Communications, Director of Internal Affairs, etc.) may indicate different emphases, but were never meant to impose strict, exclusive, jurisdictional boundaries. A Governing Councillor holds the title of President with the consent of other Governing Councillors. The Presidency may be rotated amongst Governing Councillors, if that is their consensus.
The Constitution of the Committee is thus unique in giving every Governing Councillor an opportunity, in principle, should they so wish, with the support of their colleagues, to earn unparalleled coordination experience through holding the Presidency. The Governing Council, as with the rest of the Committee, is advised by the Honorary Advisory Board of the Committee.
